In Santa Fe, capital of the homonymous province in Argentina, authorities are planning to adopt voting technology to increase transparency and efficiency in electoral processes. The aim is to have electronic voting in 50% of the polling stations by 2015 and the process completely automatized by the year 2017.

Senator Hugo Marcucci, the main promoter of e-voting in that region, emphasized that the system guarantees “the greatest transparency” and pointed out that it is “a really important advance.” The new methodology will be applied progressively, since it represents an important change for society.

Marcucci stated that “by 2013, we propose an experimental stage, parallel to traditional voting, optional for whoever wants to try it without having validity. In 2015, 50 percent of the polls would be electronic and by 2017, 100 percent.”
