Director of the Peruvian National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Mariano Cucho Espinoza considers that implementing e-voting in the midterm elections to be held on November 24, would reduce various costs associated with Election Day.

Polling tables, for instance, would be reduced by 30%, which would also help reducing costs associated with personnel.

According to Mariano Cucho, “In the past March elections, more than 130 tons of paper were used, with important consequences for the environment. This would also be reduced by 30%.”
