The Chief of the National Bureau of Electoral Processes (ONPE) Magdalena Chu has stated that Trujillo could be the pilot city to start the process of conversion towards electronic voting, which would take place during the next elections in the year 2014.

According to the ONPE chief, it is necessary to assign a bigger budget to carry out the project. Currently, an additional consignment is being negotiated before the Congress of the Republic that would allow covering the necessary requirements for the electronic voting system to be extended.
