A short video showing how easy it is for Belgians to vote in their elections using Smartmatic’s electronic voting system.
After presenting her identity card to the poll workers, who verify she’s able to vote, the voter places her card in the voting machine to activate the voting session.
She’s then able to make and confirm her selections on a large touchscreen voting machine.
It’s impossible to produce a spoiled a vote and the voter receives a paper voting receipt that confirms her choice/choices.
She then takes her voting receipt to be scanned, to record her vote electronically in what’s called ‘the President machine’. She also places her receipt in the ballot box. This can then be used later to perform an audit or a recount, by comparing the paper count with the electronic count.
