The president of the University of Puerto Rico, Miguel Muñoz, made public the new rules and regulations which will control the student congresses.

These new rules require that student and teacher decisions are approved by the majority as well as through electronic consultation.

“This new voting system, in line with current times, will allow the students’ ideas on university matters to really reflect the plurality of our student body”, added the UPR president in a press release.

Muñoz stated: “This regulation is in line with the institutional commitment to an open university culture that values a diversity of ideas, ensures and stimulates freedom of expression and the right to disagree as well as safeguarding rights and responsibilities for all members of the student community”.
