Bolivian voters will be able to access electoral data through their smartphones, such as the location of their polling centre, whether they have been selected as electoral jury members, and their authorization to participate in the upcoming October 12 presidential elections, by using an app designed by the nation’s Supreme Electoral Court (TSE).
This was reported by TSE’s spokeswoman Dina Chuquimia, who added that “the population will have quicker access electoral data and be able to quickly locate their polling places and check whether they are cleared to vote as per our biometric registry.”
The Bolivian electoral body agreed with the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) on the participation of 40 electoral observers who will represent the latter. Also, 80 observers from the Organization of American States (OAS) will be present as well.
In addition, 30 representatives of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Bodies will attend the voting in October.
Some 22 NGOs belonging to the “Voto Informado y Transparente” electoral data citizen platform will also observe the voting on a national scale.
“Electoral observation on a national scale is a new thing. But we have also carried out other types of initiatives, such as the observation of challenging of voting results. The citizen participates beyond his vote,” added the director of Bolivia Transparente, Sergio Adaya. This collective, according to Adaya, has participated in at least six voting processes since 2005.
