The General Election Committee in the Bantaeng Regency of Indonesia tested out electronic voting during the elections that were held on April 17th. 42 of the regency’s 361 polling places participated in the simulation.
The results of this trial will be used to determine the viability of electronic voting in Indonesia at large and make recommendations to the House of Representatives regarding the electoral bill that is currently being drafted.
Indonesia plans to introduce electronic voting as part of the upcoming presidential elections in 2014.
