The first elections with electronic voting in Mexico took place on the 5th of July of 2009. In Tuxcueca, a small municipality in the state of Jalisco.

This year, the state of Jalisco commits to use the electronic voting system to carry out the 2012 electoral process, the governor will be chosen, the local congress and council will be renewed and will participate in the federal process to choose a president, members of parliament and senators, all this using an electronic balloting system.

Smartmatic

This system has been used in the Federal District, Mexico City and in Coahuila, but it is the first time that the elections will take place on such a big scale.
About one thousand electronic machines were installed in districts one and 17, comprising 43 villages.
