Mariano Cucho Espinoza, Chief of the National Office of Electoral Processes of Peru (ONPE by its acronym in Spanish), stated that he will promote the use of electronic voting for the next elections.

According to Espinoza, electronic voting offers security and more speed in the delivery of results. He also pointed out that it will be necessary to enforce the implementation of the new electronic DNI (National ID Card), a document that will help guarantee the security of the process.

Another one of the projects the new chief of ONPE will carry out is the training for the signature verification process and execution of the electoral processes, which will allow for a quicker delivery of results.
