Head of the Israeli Green Party, Amir Meltzer, has called on the government to stop using paper ballots and envelopes – and switch to an electronic voting system for the next election.

He noted that not only does electronic voting generate less waste, it would also encourage greater participation by allowing electronic registration at any polling station.

The Jerusalem Post article, entitled Greens: Move to electronic voting system, also points out the benefit of voter verifiable paper audit trails, similar to an ATM receipts.
