Julio César Loutaif, Salta Government Minister, announced that by the next provincial elections in 2013, 100% of polling stations will have electronic voting. Remember that in previous elections the electronic voting counted for 33% of all polling stations, we are therefore before a breakthrough in the province.
Loutaif also emphasized that the electronic voting system is very secure and reliable, since electronic voting machines don’t have hard drive and are activated by the polling authorities when inserting the CD that loads the information on the virtual memory of the device.
The functioning of the system is very simple, the machine prints the ballot paper with the voter’s choice, which he takes and introduces manually in the ballot box. This paper has a chip which is later used to compare the number of voters with the machine and gives the result.
