The Central Election Commission of Georgia was the most lauded poll body, securing three prestigious awards: Electoral Commission of the Year, Election Management, and Electoral Conflict Management. These recognitions underscore the remarkable progress they have made in modernizing their election processes. Smartmatic has partnered with them since 2021.
The Independent Electoral Commission of Kenya won the Election Management Award for the conduct of its 2022 elections, which set a precedent for the region. This award is given to poll bodies who overcome remarkable country specific challenges. In addition to the award, former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati spoke at the event to explain how the commission managed to improve election integrity through technology.
The Philippines earned recognition for Electoral Ergonomics. This award is given to election management bodies who go an extra mile in tailoring election procedures to the cultural realities and the specific characteristics of their electorate. Smartmatic has been the technology provider to the Philippines since 2010.
The event took place in Lisbon, Portugal, before a large international crowd of election commissions and experts. With these prestigious awards, the international electoral community acknowledges the tireless efforts of national and local election commissions and their monumental contribution to elections.
