The Alabama Secretary of State, John H. Merrill, has confirmed that during the upcoming municipal elections in Montgomery an e-voting trial will take place.
During this voting process, this innovation will be made available to military and civilian voters residing abroad, who will be able to choose between this voting mode and the traditional postal vote.
This project is the first step towards the full application of the system for all Alabama voters, both military and civilians who reside outside the US territorial limits.
The assisting committee for overseas voting in the State of Alabama recently confirmed that voting abroad could take place safely through an electronic voting process.
With this pilot program, Alabama becomes one of the first states in the US to try out this alternative voting method.
