On June 5, the Pakistani Election Committee (CEP) announced its intention to adopt electronic voting technology for the 2018 general elections.
Although the Sindh government originally planned to introduce the technology this November, it was not possible to get everything in place for this to become a reality so soon.
The authorities also proposed the use of electronic voting machines equipped with biometric systems.
They aim to not only capture people’s votes but also to validate their identities. Biometric technology is emerging throughout the world as a great tool for combating voter fraud that arises from identity theft.
