Carlos Arango, a representative of a Mexican immigrant organization in Chicago, told the Consultive Council of Mexicans Abroad (CCIME) that they need to simplify the process of voter accreditation. He also recommended that they implement e-voting to ensure political rights to Mexican citizens who live in other countries.
Under the current accreditation system, the number of immigrants eligible to vote is only 60,000. For this reason, they wish to develop a less complicated and more practical system that can be put in place starting in February in conjunction with electronic voting.
