On March 6, a public test of an electronic voting system was performed during the Rice County municipal elections.

The test was open to representatives from political parties, candidates, the press and the public in order to check its accuracy and security.

Authorities are contemplating the option of upgrading their voting system by adopting state-of-the art technology.

Rice County is located in Minnesota, and according to the 2010 census holds a population of 64,142.
