Senator of Uruguay and President’s wife Lucia Topolansky was in Venezuela to watch the October 7, 2012 Presidential elections.

After experiencing firsthand the overall functioning of the robust Venezuelan automated voting platform, she expressed her interest on developing a similar system for Uruguay.

According to statements made by Topolansky in El Espectador (an Uruguayan radio station), the legislator said that “here, more than 19 million people are enabled to vote and the result only takes a little while to come. Everything is fast. I think this system is positive; it is one of the things I am interested in, to see what we can propose.”

Topolansky asserted that the system would be greatly beneficial for her country, and also said that the experience should be considered for Uruguay.
